The Art of Short Stories Duration: Goal: In this workshop for ages 13-16, students work with a mentor to learn the art of crafting a short story, focusing on the essential elements that will create strong and powerful narratives. Each workshop, students produce short stories that are corrected and edited by their peers and the mentor. Students are also expected to enter professional writing contests and to submit their work to magazines, and to report on these activities. It is generally recommended that students participate in a Dream Workshop class before joining this intermediate class. In addition, students entering an advanced program should demonstrate exceptional commitment to creative writing. Students read 12-15 advanced books that focus on social issues and promote critical thinking and discussion. For enrollment, schedules, and fee information, please contact CWC. |
